LISTEN TO THE FEEDBACK
Coopah App comes good So September 23 I was diagnosed with head & Neck Cancer, I went through 7 weeks of treatment, lost weight, lost confidence and worst of all having thoughts of would I be able to run again, as part of the treatment meant I lost over 70% of my saliva glands.
A month after treatment I was able to head out for some very easy walks. I had wanted to do the winter run which I achieved but walked it, this gave me a real boost. What next I thought, well I did have the membership to GNR, could I achieve that ? I carried on with some walks and then slowly introduced some jogs. I wanted more and I needed to have guidance but due to my condition it needed to be for me only. I had heard of the Coopah app (from FORDY) I won’t lie I was undecided on whether to do it, but I needed coaching. So I took the plunge and signed up for the 2 week trial, I wanted a push and a good plan so I went for the Vitality 10k for a sub hour, but also threw in the GNR.
During the sign up I was able to choose the days I wanted to run, the days I wanted to test and also cardio days, wow this is good so far, I then put in what I wanted to achieve and when. Surely it would take some time, then within a short period of time I had a plan, wow I thought that’s quick I looked over it and it looked great, easy runs, cardio, rest days and a long run day and then it also included getting me round GNR.
So off I went Coopah was my coach, the first week there was a lot of interaction with coaches who were there all the time even in the evening, I got a reply to every question I asked, along with support and encouragement. GNR came and I completed it, not just in a time but in a time that was 15mins faster than last year, I also ran it all !! First goal ticked.
Vitality next, the runs up to it were hard as I had to run at goal pace for parts of the training runs which I did, I had noticed my HR was better too. So race day, vitality 10k this was it sub hour let’s go, but before I set off who’s there, Mr Coopah himself (now that was a boost) you can do it Fletch he said, so off I went! Big Ben came and I thought I can do this, the finish line came and boom 58:38 I have just run a sub hr 10k.
Yes I ran it but I ran it with the help and guidance of the Coopah app. If I can go through Cancer treatment and then run a sub hour 10k it must be good!
